Overview[edit | edit source]

The Highlander is a Star League era 'Mech. The design was made famous when pilots would use their Jump Jets to land on other 'Mechs and crush them. The maneuver would become known as the "Highlander Burial".

HGN-732[edit source]

The Highlander is a well known SLDF Era Battlemech. Originally designed as a base or installation defender, the HGN-732 is probably the most famous Highlander model. At long ranges, a Gauss Rifle and LRM 20 can effectively deter many more lightly armored opponents. If a mech does decide to close the distance, two Medium Lasers and a SRM 6 are waiting to meet them.

HGN-732B[edit source]

The HGN-732B is a variation of the -732, with the quirks shifting focus from the Gauss Rifle to the missile launchers. It only has two missile hardpoints, but it gains a second ballistic hardpoint. Since there's no quirk for the Gauss, feel free to change it up and make use of that second hardpoint.

HGN-732b[edit source]

The HGN-732b is an upgrade of the original Highlander HGN-732. This advanced unit was built for the Star League Defense Force and used some of the most advanced technology of all time. The Heat Sinks are upgraded to double strength models and Artemis IV guidance is added to the LRM and SRM launchers. An extra medium laser is added as well.

HGN-733[edit source]

The HGN-733 has changed little from the original Highlander HGN-732. Knowledge of how to build a Gauss Rifle and the advanced weight saving technology had been lost by the time of this models introduction. In place of the rifle, an Autocannon 10 has been added. The weight saved allowed the designers to retain the same protection of the original model, minus the CASE. Otherwise, the 'Mech remains unchanged from the original.

HGN-733C[edit source]

The HGN-733C upgrades the main gun of the HGN-733 by replacing the Autocannon 10 with a massive Autocannon 20. The extra weight needed for the larger cannon comes from reducing the amount of ammunition available for both missile launchers.

HGN-733P[edit source]

The HGN-733P departs from the standard Highlander configuration of using a large ballistic weapon as its main gun. Instead, a PPC now occupies its right arm. Seven additional heat sinks have been added to deal with the increased heat load. Otherwise, the 'Mech remains largely unchanged from the HGN-733.

HGN-HM[edit source]

The Heavy Metal model of the Highlander is the signature ride of Rhonda Snord of the Snord's Irregulars mercenary unit.[1] This customized Highlander features a number of recently reintroduced Lostech technologies. The most expensive example is the 275 XL Engine which saves weight for a heavy weapons payload, a Gauss Rifle in the right arm provides respectable punch at long range, while 13 Double Heat Sinks keep the design running cool. The most notable feature of this 'Mech, aside from the bright pink paint perhaps, is the signature speakers mounted around the head of the 'Mech. These speakers belt out rock music each time the pilot achieves a kill.
