Overview[edit | edit source]
The BJ-1X was the original prototype of the venerable Blackjack. It was designed as a scout hunter, carrying four Flamers and four Medium Lasers. No Jump Jets were fitted on this model. Later changes gave way to the production Blackjack BJ-1.
Strengths[edit | edit source]
This variant of the Blackjack has one notable advantage over all others. Speed. The ability to move over 100kph is a boon to the relatively light design. An all energy loadout, it mounts eight energy Hardpoints. This gives the pilot the flexibility to stay at long range with PPCs or to close quickly with an array of lighter Small Lasers and Medium Lasers. The lack of lower arm and hand actuators also frees up additional critical space for equipment.
Weaknesses[edit | edit source]
The BJ-1X does still have a few issues though. The lack of Jump Jets is offset by the higher top speed. The problem that many may point towards is the lack luster torso twist range. With a range of only 80°, and arms that do not slew side to side, the 'Mech will have some difficulties at close range.
